Harvest Moon
Have you ever heard the legend of a Moon of milk and honey, the magical Harvest Moon?
On a beautiful autumn night, I took a walk downtown Burlington Ontario to search for her…
The sweet scent of pumpkin spice lattes and warm apple pie enfolded my senses.
An unusually busy Friday night, moon watchers were drinking spiced apple cider.
Lovers holding hearts and hands, friends engaging in meaningless conversations.
Silly seagulls surveying the ancient waters of Lake Ontario for one last tasty meal.
As I approached the Burlington Pier, a cool damp breeze ached my hearth.
The western skies heralded the crepuscular light with an orange glow.
To the east, a splash of darkness was quickly encroaching the urban sky.
A veil of clouds was covering the horizon, I looked for her and couldn’t find her...
As time went by, some moon watchers lost hope and got engulfed into darkness.
I started to worry… will I lose my dreams again? will I dissolve into nothingness?
My broken body was tired and asked me to run, disappear into the night,
My soul thirsty for redemption, convinced me setup my gear and stay.
My trusty Lumix G95 camera was ready, I stood there, in peaceful tranquillity.
The prolonged silence was unexpectedly broken by the sound of gospel.
A sweet family of singers filled the air with their pious allegory chants.
Hope for a miracle sojourn grow; the unbroken faith was contagious…
And then it happened, suddenly, the harvest Goddess graced us with her presence…
Breaking the cloudy chains that held her captive, she sat there, illuminating the night sky.
A moon that sings a song of forgiveness… I smiled and gazed at her eternal beauty.
My soul was ecstatic and basked on the warmth possibilities of her healing light…
And what else is for me to do? I held my trusty Lumix G95 and captured the moment…
Lovers continued holding hearts and hands, friends kept engaging in meaningless conversations.
It felt like time stood still, I thanked here one more time and quietly disappeared into the night.
